History of Wing Chun

The history of Wing Chun, has historically been handed down from master to student orally rather than through documentation, which makes it difficult to confirm or clarify the differing accounts of the creation of Wing Chun. Some have tried to apply the methods of criticism, oral history of Wing Chun and other Chinese martial arts. Others have tried to identify the origins of  Wing Chun by determining the specific purpose of its techniques.

Wing Chun starts to appear in independent third party documentation at the time of the Wing Chun master Leung Jan, what the subsequent history of Wing Chun and its divergence in areas most likely to documentary verification.

Yip Man Wing Chun, the first master was to teach the art public, “Hong Kong” based on a rate of the school. His students and their students have, therefore, the majority of the practitioners of Wing Chun today formed (see his article for the outline of a tree). Yip Man died in 1972. However, there is also a story that Yip Man gave the money, Chan Wah Shun, so that he can learn from him. Chan Wah officially the first to teach the art openly to a set of basic school Shun. However, Chan Wa Shun was a military or security function that was used by the father of Yip Man.

Bruce Lee came to America to teach non-Asian Americans. Bruce Lee was a student of Wing Chun.

Recently, a movie about Yip Man was made.

Although he never started a school himself, was line Yuen Kay-San Wing Chun will be continued by his pupil Sum Nung and subsequent generations of students who are descended from him.

Bruce Lee – Chinese Snooty

Bruce Lee Chinese (born Lee Jun-fan (in Chinese), 27 November 1940 to 1920 in July 1973), a leading Chinese American martial arts teacher, philosopher, director, producer, author and founder of the Jeet Kune Do martial arts movement. He is one of the most influential martial artists of the 20th Century, considered, and a cultural icon.

Lee was born in San Francisco, California, USA, Hong Kong parents’ inheritance, but grew up in Hong Kong until his late teens. At the age of 18, Lee immigrated to the U.S. to regain his U.S. citizenship and received his education. During this time he began to teach martial arts, which led quickly to roles in film and television.

His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and fame, and sparked a wave of interest in the Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in Hong Kong and the rest of the world. He is known for his roles in films for five years known, Lo Wei, The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972) Way of the Dragon (1972), written and directed by Lee, Warner Brothers’ Enter the Dragon ( 1973) directed by Robert Clouse, and The Game of Death (1978).

Lee was a cult figure known throughout the world and remains very popular among Asians and particularly among the Chinese, as he presented Chinese nationalism through his films. Although Lee was trained in Wing Chun, after he dismissed well-defined styles of martial arts, rather the various sources of useful techniques in the spirit of his personal philosophy of martial arts he called the use of Jeet Kune Do (Way of the Jeet Kune). In 2010 he became the 27th greatest American athlete of all time by Time Magazine as the only athlete in the list immigrated to the place.

The filiation and development of Wushu(Kongfu)

    Wushu(Kongfu) is also called national skill or feat, it is a kind of Chinese traditional sport item. It contains series of actions and many single action to fit kick, strike, tumble, hold, fall, cleave…together in some certain rules. It has wide foundation during the mass, it is an precious and varied culture bequest which Chinese accumulate during the long social practice.

    The beginning of Wushu(Kongfu) may come back to primitive society. At that time, men began to fight against the beasts with the primitive tools like sticks as weapons in order to protect themselves and get living things. Later they made weapons with more execution for getting others’ fortune. So more weapons were made and the skills of fight were also improved during the war. Read more
